How Collective Rights have enhanced the Métis identity.

The collective rights given to the Métis people have enhanced the group's identity by allowing them to live traditionally like they always had many decades before. Granted these rights, they were given their own land, the right to harvest, and live as they did before. They were given autonomy/authority to sovereign themselves. Although their right to hunt and fish without the requirement of a licence is restricted in Alberta, these other rights protected their identity and way of life.
